Marisa A. Seegobin, M.D.

Dr. Marisa Seegobin is a fellowship-trained sports medicine surgeon who is passionate about helping patients stay active and return to the activities that are most meaningful to them. From competitive athletes and weekend warriors to patients simply looking to move comfortably through everyday life, Dr. Seegobin takes the time to understand each patient’s individual goals and develop a treatment plan around their needs.

Specializing in the treatment of orthopedic injuries and conditions affecting the hip, shoulder, and knee, Dr. Seegobin provides both surgical and nonsurgical care. Her expertise includes hip, shoulder, and knee arthroscopy, complex ligament and tendon reconstruction, shoulder, hip, and knee replacement, including robotic-assisted techniques, and joint preservation procedures, such as cartilage restoration, corrective osteotomies, and biologics. She also provides fracture care as well as diagnostic and therapeutic joint injections.

After completing her high school requirements at age 16, Dr. Seegobin went on to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in life sciences, cum laude, from New York Institute of Technology at age 20. Then she earned her Master of Public Health and Doctor of Medicine degrees from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, where she graduated summa cum laude and ranked in the top 1% of her medical school class. During her medical training, she also achieved a 99th-percentile score on the USMLE Step 1 examination. Dr. Seegobin completed her orthopedic surgery residency at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Barnabas Health/Jersey City Medical Center in Jersey City, New Jersey, followed by a sports medicine fellowship at Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute in Florida, where she completed more than 1,000 cases during her fellowship year, nearly double the national average.

While in medical school, Dr. Seegobin was selected by her peers for induction into the Gold Humanism Honor Society in recognition of qualities including empathy, compassion, community service, and leadership.

Throughout Dr. Seegobin’s training, she has contributed to orthopedic research through peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, and a book chapter. She remains actively involved with her medical school as a keynote speaker, panelist, and occasional instructor. Her sports medicine experience includes providing athletic coverage at the professional, collegiate, and high school levels, including for the Philadelphia Eagles during their Super Bowl winning season, Orlando Ballet, the University of Central Florida, and New Jersey City University.

Central to Dr. Seegobin’s approach is her belief in treating the patient, not just the injury or imaging. Whenever appropriate, she favors the least invasive treatment that can effectively restore function. When surgery is the best option, she prioritizes helping patients understand why it is recommended, what they can expect, and how they can work together toward the best possible outcome. For Dr. Seegobin, the patient-doctor relationship is a partnership built around helping each patient get back to the life they want to live.

A Jupiter, Florida, native, Dr. Seegobin is proud to care for patients in her home region of South Florida. Outside of medicine, she enjoys spending time with her family, hiking the national parks with her husband and young son, and staying active through soccer, fishing, and diving as well as gardening and cooking.
