Foot & Ankle Reconstruction Surgery
The main goal of a reconstructive foot and ankle surgery is to relieve the pain and discomfort caused by injury, arthritis, congenital abnormalities, infection, and even the use of improper/narrow footwear. This procedure also aims to restore or improve ankle and/or foot function and stability.
All reconstructive surgical procedures are complex since they can involve cutting, grafting, or fuse bones, repair or transferring tendons, implanting joints and removing tumors. During a reconstruction surgery procedure, the specialized surgeon may use internal and external fixation devices such as pins, screws, staples, and wires as well as casts for both repair and stabilization.
